Jordan: Country's first hot-air balloon festival kicks off in Wadi Rum

Jordan's first ever 'Hot Air Balloon Festival' kicked off in the Golden Triangle area (Wadi Rum, Petra and Aqaba) on Friday.

Coloured balloons were seen flying in the sky of Wadi Rum, as well as a number of tourists who were taking photos aboard.

"We were honoured today to have more than 17 hot air balloons from all over the world to decorate the skies of our beloved Jordan and Wadi Rum with such spectacular view we have seen this morning," said Imad AL-Qadah, one of the festival organisers.

Carlos, a participant from Spain said "we are at the Balloon Festival in Jordan, it's a beautiful country. Now we are at Wadi Rum, we will be flying balloons in Petra and Aqaba as well it is a very special event for us, because it is held after the pandemic. This is the first time we leave Spain since the pandemic, and we are enjoying our time very much. This is a perfect place to hold a hot air balloon festival.”

The Hot Air Balloon Festival is set to be held from 1st until the 5th of October.
